Prayer Shawls

The Prayer Shawl Ministry was begun to create items of warmth and comfort for those experiencing serious illness or overwhelming grief. Members of this ministry either knit or crochet shawls and lap robes at their own pace, choosing their own patterns. While stitching, they say prayers for the person who will receive the item. When several shawls/lap robes have been completed, Reverend Susan blesses them during a church service and then keeps them lovingly until a need arises.

They are handed out in nursing homes, hospitals and homes as we become aware of folks who need the warmth and love that these unique shawls deliver. This is a quiet, personal ministry which can be performed in one’s own home. It is a way of reaching out to those who are suffering by using one’s stitching talents.
